Welcome to Working Health Services Scotland

Working Health Services Scotland (WHSS) is a Scottish Government funded NHS service that provides free and confidential advice and health support to assist individuals in attending or returning to work.

Eligibility

You don’t need a diagnosis. If you are experiencing difficulty with your mental or physical wellbeing, we can support you if:
  • You live or work in Scotland
  • Are self-employed or work for an organisation employing less than 250 individuals
  • If you have used the service before for the same reason, it has been at least 12 months since your last engagement (you can use the service within 12 months for a different reason)

Who can refer?

We can accept the following types of referrals: - Self, Employer, GP, Health Professionals or partner organisations.

What can I expect?

Supported by an experienced NHS Case Manager, you will be guided to explore barriers to health and work for a period of up to 16 weeks. We will listen to your circumstances and tailor resources and strategies to assist you with making progress. Where appropriate, you may be referred to treatments including Physiotherapy, Counselling or Occupational Therapy.

How does this referral work?

Self Referral

On the following screens, you will be able to:
  • Provide your personal details and a brief reason for your referral
  • Provide your consent to proceed
  • Provide equalities and monitoring information required for our funding
  • Select your preferred appointment slot
At your selected appointment time, your Case Manager will call you on the number you provide.
